I miss the 'oughts' ... These years between the them and the teens'll be difficult to express, won't they? 20-10,11,12 ... 2010,11,12 ... And, damn, those nineties were niffty!
Wings -- First, I like that the group's name is "NAGG." Second it wasn't always pronounced "ninteen whatever", sometimes it was "ninteen hundred whatever." Third, the guy at the end is right, eventually we'll all be saying "twenty whatever," but probably not for a couple of years.
Matt -- I prefer to pretend that Morlocks are eating the Eloi. Although that may be even farther in the future.
K, so your dilemma remains, but mine diminishes; I view the century by decades: twenties, thirties, etc. Teens and Oughts. But what the hell do we call ten-eleven-and-twelve?!
It's twenty ten for me... like the 20th century isn't it? Nineteen ninety nine...
ReplyDeleteBut why it's the convention? Dunno. Maybe cause it's quicker to say...
Well, saying twenty is one less syllable than two thousand.
ReplyDeleteHow about twenty o ten?
ReplyDeleteIsn't twenty o' ten like 18000 years in the future?

Well some of us can pretend that we are far enough in the future that space travel is commonplace.
ReplyDeleteAE -- Why will the teens be easier?
ReplyDeleteGeewits -- Okay.

Only about 790,000 years short of that.

ReplyDeleteMatt -- Then I've got time!
