I can't remember if I put these up last year, but they're back

Here's the first one:
Grinch's True End, first heard on 8 December 2003 on NPR, about 3 minutes long.
Best line: "Now I'm not sure what kind of inverted Stockholm Syndrom took place while I waited on the roof, but I do know it all could have been solved with a hard shove and a quick exit."

And here's the other:
A Fool for Christmas, first heard on 24 December 2005 on NPR about 23 minutes long.
Best Line: "Well, at the food court over fried dumplins and Butter-Bean, I'm askin' what I usually ask my dates: who kids real father is."

I'm not really in the mood to blog, which probably means I should blog. That leads me to wondering what to write about, though. Crap.

What about Sketchfu? Has everyone experienced Sketchfu, yet?

Heels showed it to me. She's pretty awesome at it. Her first big picture was one of her husband holding their son. (Although his hair doesn't stick up enough in the front. There shouldn't be any curve to it.)

Me? I suck. Great manatee god, I have enough trouble trying to draw anything meaningful using a pencil or pen, the mouse is nearly impossible.

Sausage Things Wrapped in Pancake

I've been thinking about those little sausage things that are wrapped in pancake that are deep fried and on a stick. (Which is another way of saying, I haven't really though about what to write her today.) Those things are so good. I see boxes of them in the freezer at the grocery store every time I go. I don't buy them, though. If I buy them, I'll eat them. If I eat them, I'll want more. If I want more, I'll buy more. And the cycle will continue until I have eaten all the little sausage things that are wrapped in pancake that are deep fried and on a stick in the world. And I don't think we can have that.

Confused

A lot of people seem to be finding my blog by searching in Google Image Search. The odd thing is that the search is bringing them to a post that talks about images and links to images, but doesn't actually have any images in it.

Last year, when I wrote about Superman Returns, I first broke down my opinion on the black costume shown in the teaser for Spider-Man 3.

So, I need to know, how does this work? There are very few pictures up on this blog, in the over 800 posts. If an image search came up with one of those few pages, I'd get it, but how does it come up with a post that has no pictures, only links to pictures? And why are people clicking on those anyway when two of the three I linked to are on the first page of the search? (And don't you dare blame it on misspelling because I am damn careful to write "Spider-Man" not "Spiderman." The whole spelling thing was explained in FRIENDS, that's how I know the right way to spell it.)

Sure, I guess more traffic is okay, but I'd rather it be for something that actually appears on my blog than something that just linked.

I know, it's a crazy thing to bitch about. Still, I'd like it to at least make a little sense. If someone can, please explain it to me.

The Book of Ratings, Video Edition

Lore Sjöberg has finally done another rating. The last one he did, on The Book of Ratings website, was for the 2004 State Quarters. Last night, he posted a video version of the 2005 State Quarters.

While I do appreciate and enjoy the things he does at Alt Text and Bad Gods, sometimes it's nice to get a throw back to the days of Brunching Shuttlecocks.

After all, who can forget the brilliance of The Kitchen Floor or Your Roommate Plays the Indigo Girls?

This American Life, one of the best weekend shows from NPR, is about to start showing on TV. (They did a great episode this weekend where the theme of the show was What I Learned From Television.) I won't be able to watch it, although I'd really like to.

However, we can all watch this wonderful Chris Ware animation from the show.

If you've never listened to the show before, this little bit shows why it's brilliant and why everyone should be listening and now watching it.

Here's Mat Weddle - "Hey Ya" (Cover) from YouTube, the one that mixes in the original video. It's been my obsession this afternoon. I always thought the original version was a lot of fun, but this one seems to have more pathos to it.

The Veronica Mars season premier. I won't be complaining next Tuesday about missing the show.

More Than Doubled

I was doing my daily perusal of my Site Meter statistics and I noticed that there's been a huge (for me) jump in readership.

I'm sure it won't last, but it's nice to feel like a big blog for a short time.

So, I am going to thank kalinara (I've read several of her posts that ragnell has linked to in her posts. kalinara is really good, too.) for linking this post at When Fan Girls Attack.

Oh, and for those of you who left my praise post and found the last post more offensive than funny, sorry.

I had to get it out of my system, though. It's been stuck in my head since I was shaving this morning and it made me think of the episode of Leave It To Beaver where Wally dulls Ward's razor blades by shaving off nothing at all and that led me to wondering what Ward was like beneath his "father knows best" exterrior and what it would be like if he showed it on accident.

I think it's funny.

New Readin'

The woman formerly known as "The Supervisor" is "training" the woman who's supposed to become The Supervisor. That means I don't have to watch over my shoulder as much as I waste time reading stuff on the 'net. Which is a great thing because I found a blog that I really enjoy.

Basically, it's a woman who likes comics and likes to talk about comics and she does it with a bit of a feminist slant. On my own, I rarely think of comics in anyway except as a form of escapist entertainment and I like the way she, on her own, looks deeper into the stories and art.

I think I should explain what happens to me when I find a blog with a front page I like. I start reading the archives. From the beginning. I see how the blog started. Usually the first post is a generic this-is-my-blog post, but her fist one is called This is My Sister's Fault. Wonderful. I'm now up to the 25th week of her archives.

An early post compares members of the Green Lantern Corps to the Knights of the Round Table. That was when I knew I'd be checking back daily.

My favorite post, so far is Where's My Adolescent Power Fantasy?

People like her make me wish I participated in more discussion groups. It's unfortunate that most discussion groups quickly devolve into insult-the-poster time rather than actually discussing the topic.

Oh well, at least I have this blog to read.

Run-Off

You ever worry that you're being to angst-y and people will start to think that it's all just being faked to earn sympathy and then you decided not to post something you wrote because you'd rather not worry people but you really want to post it even though it'd do no good because you didn't want sympathy you just wanted to vent and you planned to turn the comments off to make sure you won't have to read the oh-you'll-be-okay and I'm-there-for-you comments since those sorts of things just make you feel worse and then you end up posting something that makes you seem both angry and even more angst-y?

Yeah.

My day has consisted of pretending to work so I could read the 2002-2003 strips of It's Walky (I'm currently on this one.) and trying not to think of the things that worry me. I think I'll be taking off early on Friday so I'm away from work for a little bit longer.
