Hmm, I may have to talk Dad into cable! Unless you're willing to tape for me?

Sorry, I didn't get that VCR/DVD player for Christmas like I was expecting. Maybe after Thanksgiving.

Another Vampire? What is it with lonely tortured vampires? When did vampires become the good guy? Why am I going off on a rant that has nothing to do with this?

If I had HBO I'd watch it just because it's by Alan Ball. I loved Six Feet Under with a passion.

While there are lonely vampires and tortured vampires and lonely, tortured vampires in the Sookie Stackhouse books, they are not the good guys. They, for the most part, are just people. Sookie is the only good guy in the series, the rest are pretty ambiguous. Even the ones she falls for.

Sookie's an almost regular person who's just trying to work through the day.

And there aren't only vampires in the series. There are shape shifters and weres (wolves, panthers, a fox, a tiger, a bear). There are fairies and witches and half-weres.

And a lot of excitement with a little sex. They're some of the funnest books I've read in the last few years.

Maybe if it was played later in the night it would be a lot of sex with a little excitement. But then it would be on skinamax instead of HBO.

Well, the books don't have a lot a sex in them, just enough to make it more interesting.

Plus, I don't think Anna Paquin is gonna be showing us her naked titties, let alone her cooch.

We will certainly check that out. I hope you get your HBO!

Damn, I'm going to have to look for these... Author please.

Geewits -- Me, too!

Jazz -- Charlene Harris. This is her website. I've only read the Sookie books, so far, but I have some of the Shakespeare books to read, too.

The Shakespeare books are fun, but the Sookie Stackhouse books are WAY more fun!
