Since I don't want to think...

I'm repeating a meme I did almost three years ago.
Ah, the links are to the songs I found on YouTube. The Allan Sherman one is not sung by Allan Sherman, which figures since it's not one of his more famous songs. Also, the link for "Life" is not sung by the buy who sings it on myPod.

IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?
So, here's how it works:

1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie and try to pretend your cool... and a lot of the songs fit with the setting

Opening Credits: reptile -- Nine Inch Nails
Waking Up: Vengeance and Fashion -- Electric Six
First Day At School: Pump It Up -- Elvis Costello
Falling In Love: Little Girl Blue -- Janis Joplin
Fight Song: Dodgin' the Draft -- Allan Sherman
Breaking Up: Song 2 -- Blur
Prom: Listen to Your Heart -- Sutton Foster (from Young Frankenstein the musical)
Life: All I need is the Girl -- David Burtka (from the 2003 revival of Gypsy)
Mental Breakdown: Patterns -- Simon & Garfunkel
Driving: That Thing You Do -- The Wonders
Flashback: A Kiss to Build a Dream On -- Louis Armstrong
Getting back together: La Grippe -- Squirrel Nut Zippers
Wedding: Punky's Dilemma -- Simon & Garfunkel
Birth of Child: Boulevard of Broken Dreams -- Green Day
Final Battle: (I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone -- The Monkees
Death Scene: Gimme A Little Sign -- Brenton Wood
Funeral Song: Lavender Blue (Dilly, Dilly) -- Burl Ives
End Credits: Incense And Peppermints -- Strawberry Alarm Clock

Movie Meme Thing: The Return

A) Post quotes from favorite movies (originally 15 or 16 or 20 or whatever).

B) People respond in the comments with the movie the quote is from.
(For extra special points, name the character!)

C) No cheating with the internets, because we'll all know and you don't want to be shunned as a dirty, dirty cheater right?
(Although I don't really care if you cheat. Thems just the rules as pulled from another blog.) (Also, my movie one from last year is found here.)

1. "Uh, do you mind if I slide my bed roll slightly out from under the train set? It's hard to sleep in that corkscrew position."

2. "You're a phony! Yes, you are! And you know what, you can't even sing! Your voice was dubbed!"
AE, Jan 21, The Great Muppet Caper(, Miss Piggy)

3. "I hate that word. It's a return, a return to the millions of people who have never forgiven me for deserting the screen."
AE, Jan 22, Sunset Blvd(, Norma Desmond)

4. "And on the third day, God created the Remington bolt-action rifle, so that Man could fight the dinosaurs. And the homosexuals."
AE, Jan 21, Mean Girls(, Home-schooled Kid)

5. "Would you like a Ding-Dong? Oh, I don't mean mine! I mean a chocolate ding-dong. Of course mine would be chocolate now that I've been dyed."

6. "Sam, get some sleep. You're very tired."

7. "Within an inch of sunlight, the arrows begin to fly. If I am to die in battle, please, please do not let me die bewildered!"
AE, Jan 21, Camelot(, Arthur)

8. "I'm guessing it looks probably like a sea monkey right now and we should let it get a little cuter."

9. "I was hiding under your porch because I love you."
AE, Jan 21, Up!(, Dug)

10. "Will you look at that! Look how she moves! It's like Jell-O on springs. Must have some sort of built-in motor or something."

11. "The air is clean, the water's clean, even the dirt, it's clean. Bowling averages are way up, mini-golf scores are way down. And we have more excellent water slides than any other planet we communicate with."
Matt, Jan 21, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, Rufus

12. "Obviously at the place for people that weren't very generous and didn't adopt anybody. I'm at the Continental. Come over one day; we'll paint it."
AE, Jan 21, Defending Your Life(, Daniel)

13. "Stand-up philosopher. I coalesce the vapors of human experience into a viable and meaningful comprehension."
AE, Jan 21, History of the World, Part 1(, Comicus)

14. "Some sort of apocalyptic, millenarian, Christian fundamentalist, uh..."

15. "You'd think they'd never seen a girl and a cat on a broom before."

16. "Man cannot live on porn alone."

17. "Oh yes... such practices. The Geishas of Japan, the concubines of Siam, the catamites of Greece, the harlots of India. I have them all here, drawings of them. Everything you've ever dreamed of doing with a woman. Would you like to see?"

18. "She tore a hole in our universe, a gateway to another dimension. A dimension of pure chaos. Pure... evil. When she crossed over, she was just a ship. But when she came back... she was alive!"

19. "Why the whole bloody place is the most unspeakable matriarchy in the whole history of civilization! Look at yourself! The way your wife and her strumpet of a mother push you through the hoop! As far as I can see, American men have been totally emasculated - they're like slaves! They die like flies from coronary thrombosis while their women sit under hairdryers eating chocolates and arranging for every second Tuesday to be some sort of Mother's Day! And this infantile preoccupation with bosoms. In all time in this Godforsaken country, the one thing that has appalled me most of all this this preposterous preoccupation with bosoms. Don't you realize they have become the dominant theme in American culture: in literature, advertising and all fields of entertainment and everything. I'll wager you anything you like that if American women stopped wearing brassieres, your whole national economy would collapse overnight."
AE, Jan 21, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World(, Hawthorne)

20. "I don't know. Mesa day startin pretty okee-day with a brisky morning munchy, then BOOM! Gettin very scared and grabbin that Jedi and POW! Mesa here! Mesa gettin' very very scared!"

I'll cross-out the ones that were figured out and write the answerer and the title under it.

On Tuesday, I'll give hints to the ones not answered. On Thursday, I'll give answers to what ever is left.

Handwritin'

First, she did it. Today, her husband did it. I say everyone should do it.

I did it:

As usual, click for biggers, if you need to, or, for some odd reason, want to.

Also, you should know, this is me, especially in the beginning, trying to write more clearly. Usually it's small and cramped because I think words faster than I can write and drop small words and letters and then have to go and cram them in to make for complete(ish) sentences. It happened in this bit of writing where I wrote "because, to the best of my." What it looks to me like I originally wrote was "because, th best o my."

Also, I write just as straight even when there are lines on the page. I guess I see the lines more as barriers not to cross, too much, rather than what I'm supposed to write on.

A list of some others:

Money Meme

For the purposes of these questions, you must spend this money on yourself -- it is not to be donated to charity or given to needy friends, though if you have a partner or a family, you may use it for things that benefit them as well as yourself, such as a holiday for two.
If you unexpectedly received $10... I'd go to the movies and not worry about it being in the evening.
If you unexpectedly received $100... I'd blow it on DVDs and/or CDs and/or books.
If you unexpectedly received $1,000... I'd buy a good laptop computer and possibly some software.
If you unexpectedly received $10,000... I'd pay off my student loans and use the rest to pay off a chunk of my car.
If you unexpectedly received $100,000... I'd use it as a down payment on a house.
If you unexpectedly received $1,000,000... I'd buy a house, fully, where I want one, or get the land and have a house built. I'd quit this job and start looking for one near my new house. Left overs would be used to furnish the place and build some out buildings I want.

Of course, all of this is assuming that I don't have to pay any taxes on this money, either.

Space Filler

Swiped from Jazz, here's hers.

1. Have you ever felt alone, but yet there are people around you?
All the time. In fact, the times I feel most lonely aren't when I'm by myself, but when in groups of people.

2. Do you have any video game consoles? Which ones?
I have Nintendo stuff, up to the last generation. So, that's an NES, a Game Boy, an SNES, an N64, a Game Boy Advance, and a GameCube. Been quite a while since I played any of them.

3. Do you freak out at food warnings/outbreaks, such as the recent peanut butter salmonella scare?
No. I bought my peanut butter months ago, so it's fine. I didn't worry about the spinach or the tomato scare. Why be scared? The worst that'll happen is days of explosive diarrhea, but that means no work.

4. What color/pattern is your beds' comforter/bedspread?
It's striped white and tan and blue and light blue and dark blue. It's different on the other side, but I don't see that side every day so I have no idea what it actually looks like.

5. How many windows do you have in your house?
Five. I rarely open the two on the front, though, to keep the noise and neighbors down.

6. Name six things that are in your bathroom.
Sink
Bathtub
Shower Head
Toilette
Mirror
Soap

7. How big is your garage? Should it be bigger?
I have no garage. So, yes, it should be bigger.

8. Got your taxes done yet?
The state ones, although I don't think I got 'em in fast enough.

9. Think of a mental disorder..... why did you think of that particular one?
That's easy, depression because it's the one that I know I got.

Answerin' Questions From Elsewhere

Swiped from Geewits because I want a post with little actual effort on my part.

If you could be any character in fiction, whom would you be?
Arthur from The Tick. Crazy adventures, wings, licking a monolith. Yeah, I think I'd make a pretty good moth sidekick.

If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as you?
Edward Norton. He's way better looking than I am and he can do funny pretty well, and I rather the movie of my life be a comedy. If I had to go with someone closer to my own age, though, I'd choose Gregory Smith.

If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be?
Who the hell is this guy? --or-- Really? Him?

If you had to be shipwrecked on a deserted island, but all your human needs - such as food and water - were taken care of, what two items would you want to have with you?
I assume the rule is that I can't choose a boat, right? Anyway,a satellite phone and a GPS thingy so that when I get bored of being on the island I can call to leave.

If you had six months with no obligations or financial constraints, what would you do with the time?
I'm going to say that I'd travel all over the world, but more likely I'd sit in my apartment watching TV and wondering what the hell I'm doing with my free time and life in general.

If you had only six months left to live, what would you do with the time?
Say good-bye to the people I care about then disappear.

If you could have dinner with anyone from history, who would it be, and why?
If I could clearly understand the person, and be understood by the person, I'd choose the person who wrote the plays of Shakespeare, be it actually Shakespeare or Marlow or some other person because I find the work interesting and I want to know why he choose the subjects he picked and see if he'd be able to understand why The Merchant of Venice isn't seen as a comedy after hearing about what happened in the 1930s and 40s.

If you could compare yourself with any animal, which would it be and why?
I guess a panda because I sit and eat and look like I'm contemplating things even though I'm just trying to remember the lyrics to The Jeffersons.

Christmas Meme

Stolen from Jazz.

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?
Paper. Bags may be easy, but they are boring. I like to rip paper and I like to hear other people rip the paper. Then I like to watch the cats wrestle and bat balls of paper around the room.

2. Real tree or artificial?
I have no Christmas tree. I've even wrote about why I have no tree, or other decorations, a couple of years ago. If I had a tree I'd probably get an artificial because it's cheaper and easier, even though I prefer real ones for their texture and smell.

3. When do you put up the tree?
I don't. When we were kids there never was a set date. Usually it was after the Cub Scout tree sale and then when that was gone it was whenever a tree happened to be bought.

4. When do you take the tree down?
I don't.

5. Do you like eggnog?
Fuck! NO! Horrible tongue coating grease drink.

6. Favorite gift received as a child?
Can't remember the best gift. The bike was a really good one, though.

7. Hardest person to buy for?
My dad. He doesn't like to give hints. Some year, I really will give him a bottle of Triflow.

8. Easiest person to buy for?
Me, if I have the cash.

9. Do you have a nativity scene?
No. I could probably make one with some old action figures, though.

10. Mail or email Christmas cards?
That's assuming I send out Christmas cards. Which I don't. I'm cheap and lazy, both of which mean I'm not sending these things out.

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?
The closest thing to "worst" I can remember are the years where I liked what my brothers got more than what I got.

12. Favorite Christmas Movie?
The two main family tradition movies are A Christmas Story and George C. Scott's version of A Christmas Carol. I think my favorite, so far, is Christmas Vacation, though.

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?
This year I started when I got back from Thanksgiving, but I had been thinking about it for a month or so before I started and had most of the gifts figured out.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?
I haven't ever giving a gift I got to someone else, but I've probably put a gift in the recycling.

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?
Pretty much whatever I put in my mouth. There are so many yummy things why only pick one favorite?

16. Lights on the tree?
I like lights on trees.

17. Favorite Christmas song?
Weird Al's "The Night Santa Went Crazy"

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home?
I travel to my parents' house and my grandparents' house, but it don't travel, travel.

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's?
Yes, I can.

20. Angel on the tree top or a star?
I have no tree. At the parents' it's usually an angel, one Mom made or a lighter on that I think she didn't make.

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning?
Morning. Eve is for forcing kids to sleep, even though their so excited they really won't, but they have to be good, don't they.

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year?
Those morons who make a big deal about the difference between "Happy Holidays" and "Merry Christmas." And the morons are on both sides of the fight.

23. Favorite ornament theme or color?
I always like it when Hallmark did Star Trek ornaments. I never owned them, but I liked the idea of multiple Enterprises on a tree.

24. Favorite for Christmas dinner?
See the answer to #15.

25. What do you want for Christmas this year?
A better job.

Also, to hear a good joke concerning Santa's huge sack and how he whips it out to make kids happy.

Only Because I Was Tagged

1. Link back to the person who tagged you.

2. Post these rules on your blog.

3. Share six unimportant things about yourself.

4. Tag six random people at the end of your entry.
1. Okay.

2. Okay.

3. I have a Flying Spaghetti Monster sitting in front of my monitor at work.
I throw my fingernail and toenail clippings into the driveway by shaking off the blanket they were clipped into.
I don't like bananas or shellfish or cephalopods or beets.
I only unbutton the top two buttons on my shirts so I can put them on or take them off; the rest stay buttoned.
I own three pairs of shoes that I rotate through, but none of them are "classy."
I think pesto is overrated.

4. Fuck no.

Odd Book Meme

Still, I'm always up for a meme about books.

Johnny Logic tagged me.

The Rules:
  1. Pick up the nearest book of 123 pages or more. (No cheating!)
  2. Find Page 123.
  3. Find the first 5 sentences.
  4. Post the next 3 sentences.
  5. Tag 5 people.
The nearest book:
  • Star Trek Titan: Sword of Damocles
Page 123, first 3 sentences *after* the first 5 sentences:
"What do you think, Chris?"

There it was: recommendation time. For an awful moment she had the sense of all the member s of Titan's crew somehow looking in on her, listening intently, and judging how she answered.
And since I'm somewhat early on this meme, I'm actually going to tag people:
Enjoy!

First Album

Instructions:
1 - Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 - Go to Random quotations: http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.

3 - Go to flickr's "explore the last seven days" http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

Put it all together, that's your first album.

The picture came from here.

I actually found this meme on Friday over here, but I don't have any good software or fonts at work so I did it at my apartment over the weekend to get it right.

Edit: Heels did one on Friday, but she has good software at work.

Picture Meme!

I have nothing interesting to say here, so here's a meme I swiped from Jazz.

PS Click the pictures to see where they're from.

How old will you be on your next birthday?

Where would you like to visit?

What is your favorite place?

What are your favorite things?

What is your favorite food?

What is your favorite color?

What is your nickname?
I haven't had a nickname since Jr. High. Think of that what you will.

Where were you born?

A Question Meme

1. Name one person who made you laugh last night?
Well, since I wasn't with real people last night, I'm gonna go with Allison Hannigan. The way she says, "A doodle. I do doodle. You, too -- you do doodle, too." is comic mastery.

2. What were you doing at 0800?
Sitting at my desk, waiting for my computer too boot up.

3. What were you doing 30 minutes ago?
Pretending to work, but really reading Jazz's answers to these questions.

4. What happened to you in 2006?
I guess nothing really good or really bad because there aren't many specific memories. It's the first year that both of my brothers didn't show up for Easter or Thanksgiving. The comic wasn't finished and was hardly started. I lived in my apartment for a year. Not much else sticks out in my mind.

5. What was the last thing you said out loud?
"There's nothing we can do about that, but you can use this one. I think it's still November first."

6. How many beverages did you have today?
Two. Milk and water before I left for work and water since then.

7. What color is your hairbrush?
I don't use a hair brush. I use a comb. I think it's blue because I like blue, but I'm not totally sure.

8. What was the last thing you paid for?
Comics yesterday on the way to my apartment.

9.Where were you last night?
In front of the TV and then in bed reading.

10. What color is your front door?
I think it dark brown, but it may not be.

11. Where do you keep your change?
I resist change.
As for the money, I keep it in my pocket until I'm at my apartment. At my apartment, I put it in a bowl that I made. After it sits in the bowl for a week or so I split the change and put the dimes into a cool bottle and the rest in what was supposed to be a candy jar that I got for Christmas years and years ago.

12. What’s the weather like today?
High fog this morning. Patchy clouds the rest of the day. Pretty warm, even when the wind blows.

13. What’s the best ice-cream flavor?
Homemade.
Otherwise, it depends. I like the pumpkin flavor for a while, but tend to eat too much of it too fast and don't want any. Same with peppermint when it comes out. Chocolate, or any of the chocolate derivatives (rocky road, chocolate fudge, chocolate with peanut butter ribbons), is always good. Vanilla has its moments, too.

14. What excites you?
Other than the things that get me hard, I don't know. Right now, I can't think of anything that makes me feel excited. Yes, thinking about riding in a jet at supersonic speeds is exciting, but since it's not going to happen, it doesn't excite me.

15. Do you want to cut your hair?
Yes, actually, I do.

16. Are you over the age of 25?
Sure.

17. Do you talk a lot?
When I talk, I think I talk a lot. To answer whether or not I actually talk a lot you would have to ask people who know me and have had conversations with me.

18. Do you watch the O.C.?
Christ, no!

19. Do you know anyone named Steven?
I knew someone named Stephen in elementary and high school (same guy) and there are people named Steven on TV and in movies, but I don't actually know them.

20. Do you make up your own words?
As far as I can tell I made up "oxymoronical" the other day.

21. Are you a jealous person?
On occasion.

22. Name a friend whose name starts with the letter ‘A’.
Aaron, but I don't really talk with him any more and only see him at weddings of other friends and such.

23. Name a friend whose name starts with the letter ‘K’.
Can't think of a single one, but I'm pretty careful about who I call "friend."

24. Who’s the first person on your received call list?
No mobile phone, if that's what this relates to.

25. What does the last text message you received say?
Well, without a cell phone, it's quite hard to check.

26. Do you chew on your straw?
If there's nothing left to drink and I'm bored.

27. Do you have curly hair?
Above or below?
No, this white boy does not have a jew-fro.

28. Where’s the next place you’re going to?
My apartment, I suppose.

29. Who’s the rudest person in your life?
To me or to others?
I choose the I&A officer.

30. What was the last thing you ate?
A fun-size Nestle's Crunch.

31. Will you get married in the future?
My internal Magic 8 Ball says, "Outlook not good."

32. What’s the best movie you’ve seen in the past 2 weeks?
In the Shadow of the Moon, but it's also the only movie I've watched in the last two weeks.

33. Is there anyone you like right now?
Omigod, I, like, so like, like, so many, like, people that it's, like, hard to, like, know where to, like, start.
Or, no.

34. When was the last time you did the dishes?
Last night after I was finished watching TV, but before I got into bed.

35. Are you currently depressed?
Not really, no.

36. Did you cry today?
My balls have remained un-kicked and my eyes dry.

37. Why did you answer and post this?
Several reasons:
Jazz did it, and I want to be like the cool kids.
It's an easy post.
Procrastinating starting my NaNoWriMo typing.
I don't want to do any actual work.
Boredom.
More, if I wanted to think harder.
